Basic description of layered printing
In 3D printing technology, the building (printing) material (concrete, plastic, etc.) is applied (printed) by a print head (extruder) in layers. The entire process is controlled by printing data, which describes the entire printing process of the manufactured object. The printing data contains movement information (trajectories) and technological information (head movement speed, printing material feed speed, etc.). If there is no subsequent surface treatment, which is very technologically, financially and time-consuming for concrete prints, the layers are always visible and we have to take them into account when designing the object.
Layer height

The height of the printed layer is the height of the material that is applied during one pass of the print head over the selected point. It is given in mm. It ranges from 8 - 20 mm, the usual one is 10 or 12 mm. Given the fact that the concrete objects we produce are larger, we recommend using higher layers, it looks better with these dimensions. Moreover, if something cannot be completely erased (the layers will always be visible), it is better to emphasize them and use their aesthetics. For more information, see the article Layers and patterns .
Print width

The width of the print path (layer) determines the thickness of the wall of your object. It depends on the diameter of the print head's output nozzle and the amount of extruded concrete that passes through it. Its width ranges from 15 - 55 mm. We usually use a value of 25 and 30 mm. In some cases, it is appropriate to use a double print path instead of a single one. For more information, see the article Infinite Print Path .
